An obituary for a colleague

Places the emphasis on the person's profession and contribution. Example: "The team at [organization] mourns the loss of [name]. For more than [N] years they were part of our team — a true professional and someone people came to for advice. We will miss them."

An obituary from the family

More personal and warm. Example: "Our dear [name] passed away on [date]. They had a gift for making everyone feel like family, loved [hobby] and were always a support to us all. Thank you for every day with you. Your memory will stay with us forever."

How to adapt a template

Replace the general phrases with specific details: a name, the years, one vivid trait of character, a favorite pastime. It's the details that turn a template into a real tribute. Don't be afraid to shorten it — a short, sincere text is better than a long, formal one.
